Who heals you? Is it a doctor, a therapist, a drug, or a treatment? While these interventions can be beneficial, the only thing that can truly heal your body is itself. Our bodies are designed to be self-regenerating, and external treatments merely stimulate this self-healing process (or in some cases, mask the symptoms). Now, what if there were a way to harness your body’s own healing properties, concentrate them, and inject them directly into damaged tissue? That’s exactly what Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections do.

What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is you. It’s a concentrated solution of healing components from your own blood that can be injected into damaged tissue (such as muscles, ligaments, or tendons). PRP contains platelets, white blood cells (WBCs), and plasma.

  • Platelets are protein fragments in the blood known for their role in clotting. When activated, they release Growth Factors (GFs)—protein molecules that signal surrounding cells to heal damaged tissue. In PRP, these platelets and their Growth Factors create a powerful stimulus for healing.
  • White blood cells (Leukocytes) are the immune cells of the body. They fight infection and clean up damaged tissue. Most PRP doesn’t contain WBCs, but at Whole Body Health Care, we can use Leukocyte-Rich PRP (LR-PRP) when appropriate, giving patients the added benefit of their own WBCs in the treatment area.
  • Plasma is the liquid part of blood, mostly water, and contains electrolytes, nutrients, gases, and proteins. For PRP, it acts as the solvent for the platelets.

What Can PRP help with?

PRP can treat various types of damaged tissue, including torn muscles (strains), torn ligaments (sprains), tendinopathies, incisions, abrasions, and more.

How is PRP administered?

First, a blood sample is drawn from the patient. The blood is then centrifuged to separate its components using a special vial. The doctor extracts the PRP into a syringe and injects it into the damaged tissue.

What makes Whole Body Health Care’s PRP treatments different?

At Whole Body Health Care, we use a PRP preparation system that delivers one of the highest platelet concentrations in the industry. Why does platelet concentration matter? The higher the concentration, the more powerful and effective the treatment. PRP concentration is measured relative to normal blood (1x). Our system creates platelet concentrations up to 9x the baseline, compared to the industry standard of 3-5x. For perspective, PRP must have a minimum concentration greater than 1x to be effective.

With such a high concentration, we ensure our patients receive the best treatment available. If you’re considering other providers, be sure to ask about their platelet concentration levels.

We Have Ozone!!!

We also add ozone to every PRP injection, which may help activate the platelets and enhance the treatment’s effectiveness. For more information on ozone therapy, check out our blog post entitled “Ozone Injections.”

Our Ideal PRP Treatment Protocol:

  1. Initial PRP and ozone treatment
  2. Four weeks of weekly ozone injections
  3. Followed by a second PRP and ozone treatment

We offer all six visits (including injections) for $800 to make this as affordable as possible.
