The Hand and Wrist

Eight small bones meet with the two long forearm bones to make up the wrist. Then, 19 more bones complete the hand. With this many bones and joints, we become capable of incredible movement. Having independent fingers in our hands means that we can perform fine motor skills. But, we also don’t want to lose the ability to have strong gross motor skills here. Both are accomplished with intricate tendons and ligaments. Most of the muscles of this region begin at the elbow and travel all the way to the hand by way of tendons.

Complications

With so much going on the potential for injury and pain increases as well. Tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger points, and spasm abound. If you’re having difficulty with pain here you need to look at your activities. Depending on the issue you could need the added help that our office can provide.

Be sure to tell your chiropractor if you have any numbness, tingling, or weakness.
