We are all about functional movement without pain. If you like movement look no further than the shoulder which is the most mobile joint of the body. Usually, when people complain of shoulder pain it isn’t a shoulder problem at all. It is a muscle or joint in the neck or back whose effects are spreading.
Shoulder Pain
When you talk about real shoulder pain it is most often due to the muscles and tendons of the shoulder – the rotator cuff. These structures undergo injury through tearing. A traumatic injury only happens 10% of the time. Most often it is consistent wear and tear that does it. This also means that problems start off small and then worsen over time. You’ll first not have any perceivable issue, then have some annoying discomfort or pain. But soon, you’ll find it hard to move your arm because of pain or even weakness that keeps you from full capacity.
Problems in the shoulder can quickly lead to problems downstream in the elbow and wrist. Crucial to shoulder function is thoracic spine mobility. We look for movement patterns to detect these types of issues.
